The Clifton Safety Town Program is modeled after a national program designed to educate and to train children in the importance of safety through involvement in “real life” situations. A miniature town with streets, buildings and traffic signs is used. “Big Wheels” will also be provided as part of the program to give additional instruction in traffic safety. Children are instructed in lessons of fire, electrical, pool and road safety, as well as nutrition, first aid, drug prevention, and dental hygiene.

General Information
  • As enrollment is limited, only students entering kindergarten in September 2022 will be admitted.
  • Your child must be enrolled in a Clifton School or be a Clifton resident in order to attend.
  • If the child is entering 1st or 2nd grade and did not attend Safety Town previously, he/she may enroll.
  • Parent volunteers are needed to insure the success of Safety Town in addition to teenager volunteers. Please indicate when registering your interest in volunteering. You can fill out the volunteer form below and return it to the Clifton Health Department (900 Clifton Ave. 2nd Floor) or contact Lauren Scarfo (Health Department) by email at: lscarfo@cliftonnj.org or by phone at (973) 470-5758.
  • The fee is $25.00 per person to cover the cost of supplies for each child. Registration can be completed at www.cliftonrec.com by setting up an account first and then registering for the program after your account is approved.
  • Registration is ongoing with a deadline of July 22nd. Registration fee must be paid at time of registration. You may choose to pay online, print out the registration form and mail it in with a check, or drop it off with cash to the Clifton Recreation Department. If paying by check, make it payable to “Clifton Safety Town”. If you do not have a computer or need assistance in registering, please visit the Clifton Recreation Department (900 Clifton Avenue, Clifton, NJ 07013).
