Bring out your treasures from the attic and basement and get ready to make some deals!
Register your sale at the City Clerk’s Office in City Hall – 900 Clifton Avenue, 1st Floor. Registration must be done in person (no mail-in applications accepted). Payment in full must accompany the garage sale application. The fee is $25.00 (including the $10.00 City of Clifton Garage Sale Permit and the remaining $15.00 will go to the Clifton Veteran’s Committee to help with the costs of the Veteran’s Day and Memorial Day Parades). Make checks payable to the City of Clifton. No refunds. The registration deadline is June 12, 2024, at 3:00 p.m.
This event is scheduled to take place rain or shine. In the event of rain, you may choose to conduct your garage sale on Sunday, June 23rd, or Saturday, June 29th (you must indicate your choice on your application). It is your decision whether to have or to postpone the sale if the weather is questionable. The listing for the Citywide Garage Sale will indicate which addresses will hold a sale on Sunday or the following Saturday, in the event of rain. If it rains both Saturday and Sunday, it will automatically be scheduled on Saturday, June 29th.
The Clifton Recreation Department will advertise the Community event in the classified section of the local newspaper and on social media. A list will be produced indicating all participating homes and will be available for distribution online at www.cliftonrec.com. The newspaper advertisement will not list individual addresses. Participant addresses will be listed on the Official Citywide Garage Sale Listing and grouped by the sections of Clifton (ex. Athenia, Montclair Heights, Botany, etc.) All City of Clifton rules governing conducting a garage sale must be followed. CITYWIDE PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT:
On the day of the Citywide Garage Sale, the Clifton Recreation Department will also be conducting a Citywide Photo Scavenger Hunt Contest. Individuals registered for the scavenger hunt will be looking for items at the various garage sales. They will need to take a photo of an item at one of the locations of the sale and submit the photos online. Purchase of the item is not required however participants are encouraged to shop. We hope this will bring more traffic to your sale.
Participants will be informed that they must be respectful in the manner in which they search for items. If you experience any problems the day of the event, call our Scavenger Hunt Hotline at (973) 986-9977 and indicate any problems you are experiencing. Teams will be wearing team-colored armbands. Indicate the armband color when calling.
