Holiday Door Decorating Contest - Holiday Door Decorating Contest Enter the City of Clifton's Holiday Door Decorating Contest. Deadline for registering is Friday, December 6th. Decorate your door for the Holidays with family and friends. Doors must be ready for judging by Monday, December 9th. You will be contacted via email to inform you when the preliminary judging will take place (when registering let us know if you need to be notified about preliminary judging by phone instead of email). We cannot return to see doors if they have not been completed on time. After that date, a second visit will take place for final judging. You do not have to be home when judging takes place. Winners will be contacted by phone and email after judging is completed. All participants receive a small gift for entering the contest. Ten (10) winners will be selected based on various categories such as colorful, creative, beautiful, best theme, patriotic, craftsmanship, old fashioned, unusual, original and child creation. You do not need to choose a specific category when registering unless you are entering the “Child Creation” (a door that is completely created and constructed by a child/children) category. Register online, by telephone (973) 470-5956, or at the Recreation Office. Please Note: If registering online you must complete the entire online registration process to the end in order for your door to be validated and your name to be placed on the list for judging. Online registration ends 12/6/19.See photos on the right hand side for examples of previous winners and the type of entries we are looking for.

Christmas Crafts - Youth - Christmas Crafts (Ages 18 mos. - 36 mos. & adult )(F) “Tis the Season”… Delight your family and friends with homemade holiday gifts and decorations this year. This 3-week class is offered various times for children ages 18 mos. - 12 years old who want to give mom, dad, siblings, etc. something special just from them. Instruction by: Robyn White (for toddler w/adult & pre-k class) & Debbie J. Oliver, Recreation Supervisor (for 6-12 year old classes). Limit is 10 per class (toddler & pre-k) & 12 per class (youth 6-12).

Ballet/Tap Combo I - Youth - Ballet/Tap Combo I (F) Dancers will learn new ballet skills and concepts while improving their balance, rhythm, and flexibility. Then, they will trade in their slippers for their tap shoes to explore steps, sounds, and rhythm, while learning tap technique (tap shoes recommended). Dancers will perform for family and friends on the last day of class. Instructor is an experienced professional dancer and former ballerina. Instruction by: Kathy Pucci, Pucci Performing Arts Center. Limit is 20 per class.

Karate & Ninja Martial Arts Lessons - Youth - Karate Lessons (F) Learn the basics of traditional Japanese martial arts! Karate and Ninjutsu are more than blocks, kicks and swords: they're about focus, respect, confidence and discipline. Come exercise mind and body in this amazing introductory martial arts program! All classes are taught by the Academy of Martial Arts. Limit is 14 per class.

Adult Open Indoor Volleyball and 50 & Over Volleyball - Adult Open Volleyball Adult Open Indoor Volleyball for ages 18 & over (no high school students permitted in program). This is not a league, but a drop-in program. Individuals interested in playing must first complete an individual registration and then pay $5.00 each time you attend. You cannot register at the gym. NEW REGISTRATIONS ARE NOT ACCEPTED ON MONDAYS OR THURSDAYS. Each person is required to create their own individual account (except for married couples or if parent and child live in same household). The program is conducted at Clifton High School, 333 Colfax Avenue, on select Monday and Thursday evenings from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m. See link for current calendar below. Calendar will be updated every 3 months. If schools are closed, due to inclement weather conditions, all evening programs are automatically cancelled. Clifton Candyland - Clifton Candyland Presented By: the Clifton Recreation DepartmentPolar Express Train Ride, Candy Cane Hunt, Santa Visit, Food For Purchase & Much More!Just in time for the holidays, the Clifton Recreation Department will present a wonderful family adventure at the Clifton Candyland event. Put on your hat, mittens and scarf and enjoy the continuous activities running throughout the evening. Have the time of your life as you take a ride on the Polar Express Train, sing on our Jolly Trolley bus, fly and bounce at the Reindeer Flight School, use your night vision to find candy canes at the Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt, play interactive games in the Candy Cane Play Station, DIY holiday crafts, enjoy a hot chocolate and cookies at the Santa Snack Shack (other food items will be available for purchase), take your picture in a life-sized snow globe and of course enjoy a visit with SANTA CLAUS (don't forget your camera to take snow globe and Santa photos). PRE-REGISTRATION is preferred and gives you a discount. Register online or at the Recreation Office, 900 Clifton Ave. City Hall 2nd floor. The pre-registration/discounted cost is $8.00 per person, both parents and children are required to pay, and includes all of the activities. Children can't go into event areas without parental supervision. Participants must pick up wristbands at the registration tent on the night of the event upon arrival. Online registration ends on 12/12/19. Purchasing tickets on site at the event will cost $11.00 per person. Electricity and Magnetmania Workshop - Youth - Electricity and Magnetmania! Workshop (F2) Learn all about electronics, magnetism and more in this fun and educational hands-on workshop! Working in teams, take part in our Minds in Motion electronic lab. With the aid of your instructor, simply follow the colorful pictures in your manual to build many exciting projects such as a flying saucer, alarm and doorbell! All parts are experiments! See a mysterious spinning top that never stops and witness a cool magnetic sand timer. Watch electricity being produced by a hand held generator and take part in a cool activity involving a very powerful magnet. Behold a special magnetic top levitating and much, much more! Instruction by: Minds in Motion. Limit is 18 per class.

Clifton Stamp Society - Stamp Club Meeting The Stamp Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the 1st, 3rd & 5th Monday of each month at the Community Recreation Center (schedule and times may change due to holidays/summer). During scheduled meetings, there are demonstrations, stamp evaluations, & trading and selling of stamps. Twice a year, the society sponsors a trade show. Bowling League - Youth - Bowling (F) This weekly after school program includes 2 games of bowling, use of rental shoes and balls. Trophy awards and pizza party on the last day for all.
