Job Description
GENERAL PURPOSE
Perform a variety of tasks in the operation of the skate park, and at special events.
 
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the immediate supervision of a Recreation Department staff member.

POSITION SUMMARY
    • Checks ALL equipment DAILY at least but not limited to 2 times a shift
    • Cleans the skate park area and bathrooms daily
    • Opens and closes locks and unlocks facilities as needed.
    • Assists in rentals
    • Keeps records of attendance, injuries, comments
    • Maintains current skills and knowledge in the safe and proper techniques of skate park maintenance
    • Assist with Recreation special events (as needed)
    • Attends and/or assists with parks and recreation programs
    • Assists with other facilities (as needed)
    • Excellent leadership and management skills, including demonstrated ability to select, train, develop mentor, and motivate staff

Minimum Qualifications
Experience: 
      18 years or older – Must be familiar with park concepts, computer software, and some administrative work.
      Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the work.

Necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities:
      Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to the work schedule
      Ability to walk and stand for duration of schedule
      Ability to communicate orally and in writing
      Ability to understand, follow, and transmit oral and written instructions
      Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the public




Licenses & Certification:
      A valid current driver's license.
      Preferred certifications but not required: CPR/AED, First Aid, (training provided by Recreation Department)


Knowledge of:
  • General recreation principles and practices.
  • Basic first aid and CPR methods and techniques.
  • Basic principles of supervision.
Ability to:
  • Work in team based environment to achieve common goals.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Respond to requests and inquiries from employees and the general public.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Make sound decisions and use good judgment.
  • Present a positive role model and interact effectively with people.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Meet physical requirements to safely and effectively perform assigned duties
  • Operate motor vehicles including vans.
